The 40-year-old man from Bournemouth had pulled out of the Red Funnel ferry terminal at Town Quay when the collision happened on Thursday morning.
He died in hospital.
A Hampshire police spokesperson said: "We are now asking for anyone with information about the collision who has not already spoken to the police to come forward.
"Were you in the area at the time? Perhaps you saw a white HGV leaving the Red Funnel Port in the run-up to the collision?
"We would particularly like to speak to anyone with relevant dash cam footage."
