Statement from Network Rail
A Network Rail spokesperson said: "We're really sorry that passengers have been delayed around Cambridge.
"We have a problem with a piece of equipment near the station which allows the signalling system to know where trains are.
"Our team is on site, but we need to wait for it to get a little cooler this afternoon and evening to attempt to fix the problem successfully.
"In the meantime we will try to run as good a service as possible with the train operators but passengers should check before they set off if possible in case of delays and cancellations."
