Live as lines blocked near Doncaster after person hit by train
Train lines across the country are blocked after a person has sadly been hit by a train.
Around 10.30am on Thursday morning (June 15) London North Eastern Railway (LNER) reported a person was hit by a train between Newark and Retford. All lines are blocked between these areas on LNER, and all lines are blocked between Peterborough and Doncaster on Hull Trains. Routes are also blocked on Grand Central.
An update on data transport site Inrix reads: “Service suspended on London North Eastern Railway, Hull Trains and Grand Central between Newark North Gate and Doncaster due to emergency services dealing with an incident.”
LNER shared an update on Twitter and said: “It is with great sadness that, due to a person being hit by a train between #Newark and #Retford all lines are blocked. As soon as we have any information, we will update you. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause to your journey today.”
A spokesperson for Hull Trains said: “Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident near the railway between Peterborough and Doncaster all lines are blocked. Train services may be affected until 13:00 today.”
An eyewitness, travelling from London to Hull, reported they are stuck on the platform at St Neots following the incident. They said: “I’m on a train back to hull from London and someone has been hit by a train between Newark and Doncaster and the line is closed until about 1pm.”
