Josh Ginnelly Hearts future in further doubt as he misses pre-season …

The future of Josh Ginnelly^[1] at Hearts has been thrown further up in the air with his contract deadlock meaning he was absent from the first day of pre-season training.

The forward's deal was up at the end of May and a decision on his future is yet to be made. Hearts^[2] want to keep him but he has offers from elsewhere and could return to England or head abroad. Steven Naismith^[3] brought his squad back to Riccarton for pre-season training today but Ginnelly was a noticeable absentee as the players were put through their paces.

And it’s looking much more likely that Ginnelly will move onto pastures new despite Hearts' attempts to keep him at the club long term.

Also missing from Hearts training were Craig Halkett^[4], Beni Baningime and Liam Boyce with all three suffering from ACL injuries last season. They fly to Spain on Friday for a training camp that will also see them face off against Plymouth on Thursday.

The Jambos are yet to make a signing over the summer window but are believed to be making moves for Sammy Silvera and Kanji Okunuki as they look to strengthen their squad.
