Girl, 2, killed in horror lorry crash with dad pictured

A two-year-old girl who died in a horror crash[1] in Lincolnshire alongside her dad has been pictured for the first time. Lincolnshire Police announced on Tuesday, June 20, that the toddler’s death is now being treated as a murder investigation.

Ashley Henry, 35, and two-year-old Oria Henry were travelling in a Blue Nissan Qashqai, which collided with a lorry in Anwick, on Sunday, June 18 at around 2.45pm, The Mirror reports.[2] Both were declared dead at the scene.

It is unclear if anyone in the lorry has been seriously injured. Oria’s mother Rachael shared her grief on her open Facebook[3] page, by changing her profile picture to a photo of her and a toddler.

She also shared Lincolnshire Police’s Facebook post of their statement, writing “My baby” with a crying emoji and a broken heart emoji. The open post has received a string of messages from friends and family, including many who paid tribute.

One woman, who also appears to be a mum, posted: “I cannot imagine the pain you are feeling right now. My heart breaks for you.”

Another said: “You’ve been in my mind all day today and yesterday. I can’t begin to imagine what you’re going through and having to find a new way of living.

“You have terrific fight and dignity and beauty inside and out, and I can only imagine how much your daughter Oria was so adored by you and your family.”

Another friend shared: “My heart really bleeds for you, I could never imagine the pain you must be feeling.”

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Constabulary said the force is not looking for anyone else in connection with the crash. “We have launched a murder investigation after a fatal collision between a lorry and a car in Anwick,” the spokesperson continued.

“Driver Ashley Henry, 35, and passenger Oria Henry, 2, from Leicester were travelling along Main Road in a Blue Nissan Qashqai when the incident took place at around 2.45pm on Sunday, 18 June. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

“Our investigation into the incident continues but after careful consideration we can confirm we have begun a murder investigation into the death of two-year-old Oria.”

The collision happened around five miles outside Sleaford. The police statement continued: “Our thoughts remain with the family of those who lost their lives in this collision and specialist officers are supporting them at this difficult time.

“If you have information that may help us in our enquiries, contact the force control room on 101 quoting incident number 264 of 18 June.”
