Friends of woman found dead near M1 launch fundraising bid to help her young daughters

A family friend has set up an online fundraising page to help pay for the funeral and to help the children of mum Sarah Henshaw, whose body was found in a layby near junction 29 on the M1 motorway. Derbyshire police had been searching for the 31-year-old after she was last seen at her home address in Norman Street, Ilkeston, at about 9pm on Tuesday June 20.

Shannaide Colebourne, said that she had spoken with Sarah's mum, Lorraine, who had agreed she could set up the GoFundMe[1] page to help with funeral expenses and to help Sarah's daughters, aged 12 and seven.

Launching the fundraising page, Shannaide said: "As many are aware Sarah went missing. Nobody could find her anywhere. We were given the devastating news a whole six days after that they found her precious body in a layby on the A617.

"Please understand that this is an ongoing investigation and no more news can be given at this time. As anybody can understand there is currently no savings for her funeral as this was unexpected and a massive shock to everyone. Thank you to anyone that shares and donates - anything is appreciated at this time. Rest in internal peace beautiful girl, we love you."

The discovery of Sarah's body came after a murder investigation was launched. A man who was arrested on suspicion of the 31-year-old’s murder remains in police custody and a warrant of further detention has been authorised giving officers more time to question him.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of a blue Ford Transit van, registration beginning YP16, in the early hours of Wednesday, June 21 around the area of J29 of the M1 and the A617 towards Chesterfield.

A Derbyshire police statement said: “Sarah's family are being supported by specialist officers and our thoughts are with them at this time."

Anyone who has any information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact them online,[3] on Facebook,[4] on Twitter[5] or by calling 101 and quoting incident number 444 of 23 June.
