When crews arrived, they found the HGV fire had sparked a grass fire, which was spreading quickly.

Penrith Fire Station said: “All crews worked very hard to extinguish the fires but the HGV fire itself proved very difficult to extinguish due to the load it was carrying.

“After several hours fighting the fire we were finally able to bring the incident to a close and allow the HGV to be recovered.”
