Farningham Road Dartford station: Person hit by train dies

A casualty on the tracks was reported at Farningham Road station just before 6.30am on June 17.

Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service crews attended.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Southeastern confirmed all lines between Rochester and Swanley were closed following the incident.

All closures have been lifted since. 

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Farningham Road at 6.28am on 17 June following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The full tweet from Southeastern said: “Sadly, a person has been hit by a train between Rochester and #Swanley.

“Trains will be held in platforms whilst emergency services and Network Rail response staff access the track.

“Trains that run between Gillingham and Victoria are disrupted. More to follow.”
