Family pay tribute to ‘well loved’ grandad who died in van crash on …

The family of a grandad, who died in a van crash in South Wales[1], have paid tribute to him, saying he was ‘well-loved’ and ‘will be missed deeply’.

Gwent Police were called to the crash on the A472, near Tredomen, at around 2.20pm on Tuesday June 6. Officers attended, along with personnel from the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Wales Air Ambulance and the Welsh Ambulance Service.[2]

The crash involved a white Ford Transit – and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. He was later named as Darran Medd, 56, from Merthyr Tydfil.

In a moving tribute, his family said: “Our loving father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, Darran was tragically taken from us far too soon.

“As a family we have received an outpouring of kindness and supportive words to which we are extremely grateful. Darran was well loved and will be missed deeply by all. We would like to thank the emergency services and members of the public for their efforts that day.”

Investigating officers want to speak to anyone who was travelling on the A472, near Tredomen between 2.10pm and 2.20pm.
