Essex to be hotter than Nice, Venice and Tenerife as heatwave …

It’s set to be an absolute scorcher in Essex this week, with highs of almost 30C predicted by the Met Office. This is very warm by any standards, but it will mean that Essex will actually be hotter than various European cities today.

So for anyone missing out on an international holiday this year, you can console yourself with knowing that you’re getting higher temperatures and more sun than those people who did make it abroad. In parts of Essex the Met Office has predicted temperatures to hit highs of 28C, while in the French city of Nice it’s far cooler at only 21C.

In Venice, it’s only forecast to reach 25C, while popular tourist destination Tenerife is still less hot than Essex at 26C highs. In Loughton it’s going to hit 28C today, according to the Met Office.

Other parts of Essex will also be very hot. In Saffron Walden, it’s due to hit 27C today, with heat highs between 4pm and 6pm. It’s also going to be very hot in Stansted Mountfitchet and Harlow, again with highs of 27C.

However, it’s slightly cooler towards the Essex coast – in Southend it’s predicted to peak at 25C and in Clacton there will be highs of 23C.
