Emergency services have been sent to a crash on the main road between Freshwater and Yarmouth this evening (Friday, June 23).

A collision has happened on Hills Lane, near the junction of Pixley Hill and the continuation of the road onto Halletts Shute.

Ambulance and police teams are at the scene, and fire engines from Newport, Shanklin and Freshwater were also called.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has also been sent.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area at this time (see map above).

Due to the accident, Southern Vectis route seven buses will divert via Willmingham Lane in both directions.

The 6.05pm from Alum Bay to Newport is currently stuck at the accident.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary have been contacted for a statement.
