Car and lorry crash near Kyle of Lochalsh closes both lanes of A87 …

A crash near Kyle of Lochalsh in Skye has closed both lanes of the A87 Invergarry to Uig road.

The crash involving a car and a lorry happened at 3.50pm on Thursday.

Traffic Scotland, posted on social media that the emergency services were en route to the incident at 4.11pm.

The extent of any injuries is not yet known.

The Highland road is the route motorists take to make the journey on the ferry from Uig to the Western Isles.

According to CalMac’s timetable[1], a ferry is due to depart Uig at 6.30pm, and the road will have been heavy with traffic during the afternoon.

A police[6] spokeswoman said: “Officers were called to the scene at around 3.50pm on Thursday, June 1. The crash involves a car and a lorry.

“Emergency services are at the scene and motorists should avoid the area where possible.”

Another crash, further up the A87 at Dunan closed the road last week.[7]
