Cafe on Lincolnshire coast to open for first time in five years
A cafe in a coastal Lincolnshire town will be reopening soon for the first time in five years. Anchor Chippy in Anchor Lane, Ingoldmells[1], which first opened in 1989, will be opening its cafe ‘Nuggs Cafe’, on Saturday, June 31, 2023.
The owner of the cafe, David Knott, 54, who also owns Anchor Chippy, is naming the cafe after his seven-year-old daughter Victoria, who enjoys helping out in the cafe and is nicknamed ‘Nugget.’ Mr Knott said the chippy first opened in 1989, and he worked there with his brother when he was 20, and decided to take over after working in building and construction.
Mr Knott said: “We’re going to be an old-fashioned, no-nonsense, good-value cafe with good food[2] and daily newspapers to read. We want to give something back, there is not much good value in Skegness[3] at the moment.

“I’m not there to make a killing. I will make my wages and everyone gets paid but I don’t want to make an extensive amount of money.”
Mr Knott said he currently has five staff and will have 15 during the busy period of the summer holidays. He also said that he will be donating half of the cafe’s first days takings to a local charity.
