Bradford man fined for dodging rail fare on journey to Leeds …
Ricardo Ndlovu, 35, of Sunbridge Road, Bradford, was travelling between Bradford Interchange and Leeds Station on November 27, 2022.
During the journey, he was asked by the Conductor to produce a valid ticket, which he was unable to do.
The court record states, he said ‘his wife had sent him a ticket, but he could not produce it.’
Further, the defendant could not pay for the journey he was making. He was issued with an Unpaid Fares Notice in good faith so that he may pay the outstanding fare within twenty-one days.
He failed to pay the £4.90 Unpaid Fares Notices.
On June 12 at Kirklees Magistrates' Court, a collection order was made and he was fined £440, asked to pay compensation of £4.90, a surcharge to fund victim services of £176, and costs of £150.
In total, he must pay £770.90 by July 10, 2023.
