Birmingham New Road: Elderly man dies after Coseley crash …
Emergency services were called to the scene of the fatal collision on Birmingham New Road at 9.36am this morning (June 8).
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Upon arrival, staff found a man who was the pedestrian.
“Unfortunately, it was immediately clear that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.
“The driver of the lorry did not require treatment.”
West Midlands Police closed the road following the incident and launched a witness appeal.
This morning, a spokesperson for the force said: “Police were called at 9.38am following a collision involving a lorry on the main road near Roseville.
“An elderly male pedestrian was seriously injured.
“The road is currently closed between Mason Street near to Silver Jubilee Park to Ivyhouse Lane, close to the McDonalds”.
“A man has been detained by police and will be helping with our enquiries.
“Any witnesses to the collision, or anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage, should contact police on 101, quoting log number 1175 of 8/6/23”.
