Birmingham New Road closure Live following crash in Coseley

A major A-road in the Black Country has been closed following a crash. The A4123 Birmingham New Road in Coseley has been shut in both directions following the incident.

The crash happened at the junction with Mason Street. There is congestion in the area and motorists face delays to their journeys on one of the Black Country's busiest roads.

West Midlands Roads tweeted at 10.33am that the road had closed. In a statement on Twitter, West Midlands Roads said: "A4123 Birmingham New Road around the junction of Mason Street, Coseley.

It added: "Collision causing congestion in the area. Reports suggest that the road is closed. Avoid the area or face delays to your journey."

Traffic monitoring service Inrix also reported the road closure, saying: "A4123 Birmingham New Road in both directions closed, very slow traffic due to accident from Bank Street to Oak Street. Congestion to Gough Road."

The bus services 8 and X8 have also been diverted. West Midlands Police ^[2] and West Midlands Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.
