A55 drivers warned roadworks will spark closures along 5km stretch

A series of road closures will take place on the A55[1] next week. Starting on Monday, drainage works will be carried out on a 5km section of the expressway between J14 for Madryn and J16 at Puffin Roundabout.

On Monday and Tuesday, the eastbound carriageway will be closed between J14 Madryn and J15 Llanfairfechan Roundabout with a full closure of the J14 Madryn on slip between 8pm and 6am. There will also be a lane 2 closure westbound during this period.

Residents of Glan Môr Elias will be escorted through the closed off section, Traffic Wales has said. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the eastbound carriageway will be closed between J15a Penmaenmawr and J16 Puffin Roundabout from 8pm to 6am.

There will also be a lane 2 closure westbound during these times. No further closures are planned on the eastbound carriageway beyond this point.

From Wednesday night to Thursday morning, from 9pm to 6am, there will be a lane 2 closure on the westbound carriageway with a series of rolling roadblocks (no longer than 20 minutes) between J17 Morfa Conwy[3] to J16 Puffin Roundabout. The work is expected to be completed by 6am on Friday morning, after another series of rolling roadblocks and a lane 1 closure on the westbound carriageway from J16 Puffin Roundabout to J15 Llanfairfechan Roundabout overnight starting from 9pm.

During the first eastbound closure, traffic will be diverted off the A55 eastbound carriageway at J14 along the Aber Road through Llanfairfechan to re-join the A55 eastbound carriageway at J15 Llanfairfechan. For the full closure between J15A Penmaenmawr and J16 Puffin Roundabout, traffic will be diverted off the A55 eastbound carriageway at J15a Penmaenmawr along the Bangor[4] Road through Penmaenmawr to re-join the A55 eastbound carriageway at J16 Puffin Roundabout.
