A woman is fighting for her life after a horror crash on the M66 in Bury yesterday, Saturday.
Police were called to reports of a crash between two vehicles travelling southbound on the M66 between junction 3 for the Pilsworth Interchange in and junction 4 for Simister Island at around 3.10pm.
A 38-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries, which are believed to be “life-threatening”, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has said.
Three children were also taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The man remains in police custody for questioning.
GMP has been asked for more details about the make and model of vehicles involved in the crash.
The incident caused delays on the motorway while emergency services attended.
Police are now appealing for witnesses and information.

Sergeant Matt Waggett, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Firstly, I would like to thank the members of the public who selflessly helped at the scene and called 999, as well as those who assisted when police and emergency services arrived on scene.
I urge anyone who may have witnessed this incident to please come forward and share any footage, dashcam or mobile footage, with police.
“No matter how small you think it is, it could prove vital to our investigation.”
