Train services to be affected across Cambridgeshire as strikes take …

A number of train services across Cambridgeshire will be affected this weekend as further industrial action takes place. Rail strikes will happen on Friday (May 12) and Saturday (May 13) as the long running dispute over work conditions and pay continues.

Workers from ASLEF will be striking on Friday while members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) at Network Rail will take action on Saturday. A total of 19 train operators will be impacted over both days.

Cambridgeshire[1] rail services will be severely reduced on both days with people advised to "only travel if absolutely necessary on strike days". Passengers have also been told to not attempt to travel on May 12 as there will be no services.

Here is a breakdown of Cambridgeshire services that will be affected by the rail strikes this week.

CrossCountry

No services will operate during the ASLEF strike on Friday. Meanwhile, there will be a very limited service in place during the RMT strike day.

Trains from Birmingham New Street to Peterborough will run every two hours. No services will be running through Whittlesey, March, Ely or Cambridge.

Greater Anglia

There will be a reduced service on a limited number of routes, including the Cambridge to London Liverpool Street one. Most routes (including all regional lines) will have no service at all.

Where services do run they will start later and finish earlier than normal. Start and finish times will vary across the network.

Great Northern

Due to strike action by ASLEF, no Great Northern services will run on the Friday. On Saturday, services will be limited across the network with some unable to run at all.

All routes across Cambridgeshire are likely to be limited, although there will be no service at Littleport.
