Three horses dead in late night horror crash

Three horses have died in a late night horror crash on a busy A road in Wiltshire. Police were called to reports of horses loose on the A36[1] near Salisbury at around 11pm yesterday (May 28).

A car had collided with three of the horses. Sadly the three horses died as a result of the collision[2]. The road was closed for a number of hours between Stapleford and Steeple Langford while emergency services attended.

The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital[3] as a precaution. A fourth horse was tracked down and contained until the owners were contacted.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact them. A spokesman for Wiltshire Constabulary[5] said: “Officers responded to reports of horses loose on the A36 around 11pm last night (Sunday).

“We received reports of one road traffic collision[6] involving three of the horses and a car. Sadly, three of the animals died at the scene.

“The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital[7] as a precaution. The road was closed for a number of hours between Stapleford and Steeple Langford while emergency services attended.

“Another horse was tracked down, was safely contained while the owners were contacted. If you see anything that could cause a road traffic collision, or anything suspicious please contact us on 101 or in an emergency 999.”
