Strike action will see Northants rail services stop this week

Strike action will see Northamptonshire rail services stop completely for two days this week. Members from the ASLEF union have announced their intention to stage strike action on Wednesday (May 31) and Saturday (June 3).

Passengers are also being urged to check their journeys on Thursday (June 1), as services may be impacted due to demonstrations short of a strike by ASLEF. Members from the RMT union have announced their intention to stage industrial action on Friday (June 2).

A limited service will be in operation on certain routes from 7am until 7pm while some routes will have no service on this day. On the LNR line, the service from Northampton[1] to London Euston will be halted by the industrial action.

On the East Midland Railway services, the line running through Kettering[3], Wellingborough[4] and Corby[5] to London St Pancras will be affected. Jonny Wiseman is the LNR customer experience director.

He said: “It is disappointing that our passengers’ journeys continue to be impacted by industrial action. Passengers will need to find alternate modes of transport on Wednesday 31 May and Saturday 3 June as services will not operate on any route.

“Passengers will need to check their journeys on Thursday 1 June and Friday 2 June as services will be impacted as a result of industrial action. Anyone holding a ticket for travel on a strike day can use their ticket on a different day or claim a full refund.”
