Stourbridge Road in Dudley shut after woman dies in lorry crash
Police have shut Stourbridge Road in Dudley[1] after a woman was killed in a lorry smash. The street has closed while collision investigation work is carried out this evening.
It comes after a pedestrian, aged in her 70s, was hit by a HGV earlier today (May 17). She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene[2] by paramedics.
National Express West Midlands service number 6 continues to be affected by the road closure. Diversions are reportedly in place, while there is also traffic in the area.
Traffic monitoring system Inrix said: “A4101 Stourbridge Road in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident investigation work between B4177 Wellington Road and Bull Street.”
West Midlands Police[4] launched an investigation following the fatal collision[5]. It happened near the junction of Wellington Road and Stourbridge Road at 3pm.
Earlier today, the force said the lorry driver was helping with enquiries. He was assessed at the scene but did not need to go to hospital so was discharged by West Midlands Ambulance Service.
