S-Ways the way to go for Archbold Logistics

Archbold Logistics has added a batch of 12 new Iveco S-Way 490 tractor units to its 150-strong fleet.

The new arrivals follow the delivery of two S-Way 460 models to the Archbold fleet a few years ago.

The S-Way 490s are fitted with Cursor 13 engines producing 490hp and 2500Nm of torque from 1000 rpm.

The engines are coupled with new high-efficiency single-reduction rear axles that enable greater efficiency when cruising on long-distance routes.

The purchase supports Archbold’s growing contract logistics arm, which enables customers to benefit from a fleet operation without having to bear the full cost of a dedicated fleet themselves.

Archbold Logistics MD, Alan Maher, said: “We trialled the vehicle last year and it performed excellently. The drivers have been really positive about these Ivecos and have reported good fuel economy.”

Inside the cab, coloured trim finishes and attention-grabbing red seatbelts detail the spacious interior.

A refrigerator, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay means Archbold drivers are well catered for when away from home.

Further efficiency gains come from increased compression ratios, a new combustion management strategy, and an Eco Mode for the automatic air conditioning system.

The vehicle is offered with a specific configuration of options which can improve overall fuel efficiency by up to 4%, according to Iveco.

Alan continued: “We are delighted so far with the new Ivecos. They are performing well for us in a real-world environment and we have been particularly impressed with Iveco’s dealers support, which provide the excellent back up service that we require.”

The 12 Archbold S-Ways are expected to cover 140,000km each year, so driver comfort is always high on the agenda.

Each one is covered by a five-year Iveco Elements repair and maintenance package.
