Road to be closed ‘for hours’ after crash near roundabout

A serious crash on the A417 has closed the major Cotswolds route^[1] in both directions overnight into Thursday morning (May 11). It involved two vehicles and has seen a huge emergency response.

The incident, which was first reported at around 9.35pm on Wednesday, has happened between the Air Balloon roundabout and Cowley roundabout, resulting in that stretch of road being closed off^[2] for motorists in the area. It is set to remain closed until noon today.

Motorists using the A417 between Cirencester^[3] and Gloucester^[4] will likely experience delays. Police said last night the closure was ‘expected to remain in place for a number hours’ .
