A road closure and cordon is currently in place across the junction of Stamfordham Road and West Denton Way after an incident which took place this morning – in which, police, fire, ambulance and air ambulance services all attended.
Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue confirmed that a fire had taken place at a commercial property at around 10.05am this morning, while the North East Ambulance Service confirmed two patients had since been transported to the Royal Victoria Infirmary for treatment.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service also said that they attended the scene, with a doctor and paramedic assessing patients and assisting them to hospital via road.
