Plymouth roadworks starting this week all across the city
A whole raft of new roadworks start this week in Plymouth. They are in addition to plenty of long-running and already under way schemes in the city. For the next fortnight, Trefusis Gardens will be closed 24 hours a day.
This closure will last until Wednesday, May 24, and is for fibre cable works being carried out by CityFibre. For tonight and tomorrow night, there are overnight closures on Wolseley Road from 8pm to 6am. In the eastbound direction, the road is closed over St Budeaux rail bridge, eastbound only (diversion via Normandy Hill), for South West Highways work.
In the outbound direction, the bus lane is closed, and there is a lane closure from Lidl bus stop to pedestrian crossing opposite Trelawney Avenue (bus stop open and left turn maintained). And on Thursday, the one-way system on Markey Way is suspended between 9.30am and 2.15pm to allow vehicles to exit the Mayflower Street west car park. This is because the access road to the car park will be closed and there no access while patch repairs are carried out.
Plymouth City Council has helpfully put out a list of roadworks that will be taking place across the city over the next week. The council is responsible for coordinating works carried out by utility companies, developers and other organisations as well as their own repair, maintenance and improvement works. They maintain all public roads in Plymouth except the A38, which is managed by National Highways on behalf of the Department for Transport.
“We know there’s no good time to close roads, especially on busy routes and we do everything we can to co-ordinate planned works and minimise their impact on our transport network,” a City Council spokesman said.
