ONGOING – Smoke from train investigated in Chester

Details

Firefighters were called to reports of smoke coming from a train. The train was evacuated and checked by the crews using a thermal imaging camera. The smoke is believed to have come from the batteries so firefighters isolated them and used a large fan to clear smoke from the area. 

UPDATE - 17:52

The crews are working to cool the batteries and fully ventilate the train.

UPDATE 19:00

The firefighters are working with rail staff to cool the batteries on the train.
