Motorcyclist in serious condition after crash shuts A55

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash that shut the A55[1] today (Thursday, May 4). The collision happened this afternoon next to junction nine at the Treborth Interchange. Traffic Wales first reported the incident at shortly before 4.30pm. “Emergency services are on scene,” it added in an update.

The road was first shut in the eastbound direction, then both carriageways were closed. A diversion route was put in place and Traffic Wales said there was “heavy congestion” in the area. At around 6.25pm North Wales Police[3] confirmed the A55 had fully reopened. “Both carriageways of the A55 have now re-opened following the earlier serious collision next to junction 9 Treborth,” they said.

“A motorcyclist has been taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd[4] with serious injuries. Thank you for your patience and co-operation.” Sign up to our newsletter[5] for all the latest stories from North Wales
