Man taken to hospital after being hit by lorry

A man was taken to hospital after being hit by a lorry.

Police were called to reports of a crash on Dakota Drive in Garston ^[1] at around 6.20am today which involved a cyclist and a HGV. According to traffic management Inrix, Garston Shore Road was closed in both directions.

Pictures shared by witnesses showed a cordon in place at the Estuary Boulevard roundabout. Motorists were told to avoid the area as emergency services dealt with the incident.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with injuries to his spine and face. The roads have since reopened and the cordon has been lifted.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police ^[3] said: "At around 6.20am this morning, Thursday, May 18, we received a report of a collision on Dakota Drive in Garston involving a cyclist and a HGV.

"The cyclist was taken to hospital with injuries to his spine and face. Dakota Way is closed from the roundabout whilst emergency services remain at the scene and motorists are advised to avoid the area."
