A man has been rushed to an Edinburgh hospital[1] after an articulated lorry overturned on a busy dual carriageway just outside the city.

Emergency services rushed to the busy A1 near Haddington[2] around 6.30am on Thursday, May 18, following the one-vehicle crash, with one lane closed while recovery takes place.

Police, paramedics and fire crews are all understood to have been present at the scene, as officers[3] confirmed a man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

The incident took place near the Thistly Cross roundabout during rush hour as motorists in the area experienced long delays. The road remains blocked until the HGV can be recovered.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.30am on Thursday, 18 May, 2023, police were called to the A1 near Haddington, following a report of a one-vehicle crash involving an HGV. One man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment. Recovery has been arranged."
