Man injured in ‘stabbing’ in Somerset town sparks witness appeal

A man was injured in a “stabbing” in a Somerset town in an incident which occurred in the early hours of this morning. Officers from Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

Police were called to Longforth Road and Victoria Street in Wellington at about 2.15am. A man in his 30s was taken to hospital.

Police asked for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and who saw anything, to call the police. The appeal also included anyone who may have relevant CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to come forward and contact police.

“His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life changing. We are treating this as an isolated incident and enquiries are on-going.”
