Man (62) killed in Ballycastle crash – The
A MAN in his 60s has died following a road collision in Co Antrim.
The crash involving a car and a lorry happened at Moyagret Road in Ballycastle shortly before 12.10pm on Friday.
A PSNI spokesperson said a male aged 62 died at the scene of the collision.
They added: “A woman aged in her 70s has been taken to hospital for treatment for her injuries.”
The Moyarget Road remained closed to motorists on Friday evening, with the spokesperson adding the road is likely to remain cordoned off “for a considerable period of time.”.
“Please avoid the area where possible and seek an alternative route for your journey,” the spokesperson said.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or have any dash cam footage, or information which could assist us with our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit 101, and quote reference number 765 of 19/05/23.”
Ballycastle Sinn Féin council candidate Cara McShane said: “The community is in shock at this awful news, and our thoughts are with all of those involved in the collision.
“I would urge any witnesses to the crash to get in touch with police as they investigate the circumstances.”
