Main road in Cambridge to be closed to install new traffic lights

A main road in Cambridge will be closed overnight this week. Milton Road will be closed to through traffic overnight between 8pm and 6am from Monday, May 22, to Friday, May 26.

The closure will be between Mitcham's Corner and Arbury Road. New traffic signal crossings will be installed, as will new streetlights.

Some of the utilities will also be moved as part of the work. A diversion route will be signposted for traffic[1] in the area.

A spokesperson for the Greater Cambridge Partnership said: "We will be closing Milton Road[3] to through traffic overnight between 8pm to 6am from Monday 22 May to Friday 26 May between Mitcham's Corner and Arbury Road.

"This is so we can put in new traffic signal crossings, move some of the utilities and install more of the new streetlights. We are closing the road so the work can be carried out safely which is not possible in the daytime with the traffic levels on Milton Road.

"While we do this work access for residents and busses will be maintained. There will be a letter drop to all affected residents and businesses before these night-time closures, and a diversion route for through traffic will be published nearer the time."
