M25 fire photos as lorry completely burnt out near Brentwood that …
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said they’re ‘moving as fast as we can to get you moving again’
A burned out bin lorry has been the cause of hours of chaos on the M25 today (May 30). The vehicle caught fire on the M25 between J27 and J28 at around 10am.
When fire crews arrived, they found the vehicle was completely alight and it was on the hard shoulder. Firefighters have extinguished the fire and are now trying to access the compacted rubbish to extinguish hotspots.
The incident has caused a huge diversion from the M25[1] with motorists having use the A12, North Circular and M11. Essex County Fire and Rescue Service say lanes at the incident will likely remain closed “for several hours”[2] due to a fuel leakage.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service continue to advise motorists to avoid the area. They said they are working hard to clear the road to allow one lane to be reopened, but the other lanes are expected to stay closed for “several hours” whilst a clear-up takes place.
Station Manager Howard Midwood said: “Due to the amount of fuel and liquid leaking from the vehicle, the road is currently closed between Junction 28-27 but we are working as quickly as we can with Highways to clear the road so we can re-open one lane and get people moving. We expect the other three lanes to be closed for several hours while clean-up and recovery take place.
“Thank you to everyone in the traffic for your patience while we deal with this incident, we know it’s frustrating having to wait but your safety is our priority.
“Crews have done a fantastic job to contain the fire and keep our public safe alongside colleagues in London Fire Brigade.
