M25 crash involving lorry shut motorway with miles of delays – recap
The M25 anticlockwise was heavily disrupted following a road collision involving a car and lorry this morning (May 26). The incident happened before Junction 29 (Romford/Basildon) where emergency services were called to the scene.
East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) confirmed they attended alongside police. A person was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Traffic was held at 11.30pm for about 90mins before it was released at around 1pm. However, two lanes were closed for approximately 40mins.
Severe delays were also reported with traffic queues up to 15 miles and delays up to 90 mins. All lanes were reopened at 1.41pm before traffic was temporarily held again before 2pm.
Traffic flow returned to normal at around 3.16 pm. A EEAST spokesperson said: “We were called on May 26 2023, at 11.12am to a road traffic accident on the M25.
“One ambulance, an ambulance officer and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were in attendance. One patient was conveyed by ground ambulance to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital in a stable condition.”
