LIVE: Main road closed off after fire breaks out at former pub – latest …

A main road in south Manchester is closed off this morning after a fire broke out in the early hours.

The fire has reportedly broken out in the former Hardy's Well pub, which sits at the junction of Wilmslow Road and Dickenson Road in Rusholme[1]. This morning, the southbound carriageway of Wilmslow Road is shut off, according to Transport for Greater Manchester.

A stretch of Dickenson Road is also closed. MancTraffic said in a tweet: "A6010 Dickenson Rd & Wilmslow Rd junction, Rusholme CLOSED following an overnight blaze at the former Hardy's Well pub."

A tweet posted by TfGM at around 12.30am said: "ROAD CLOSED. A6010 Wilmslow Road is closed between Great Western St and Norman Rd in both directions.

"This is due to a building fire. Please seek an alternative route. Local bus services @StagecoachGM are on diversion. #TfGMTraffic."

A further tweet at 4.19am added: "UPDATE: A6010 Wilmslow Road northbound is open. Southbound remains closed at this time."

The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for more details.
