Jewellery and cash stolen from Somerset village home as police …

Jewellery and cash has been stolen from an address in a Somerset[1] village. Avon and Somerset Police say a property was broken into in South Petherton[2] last Thursday (May 25).

The burglary took place on Compton Road at some time between 10am and midday. A 24crt gold wedding band, a three-coloured gold locket on a long chain with a broken clasp and a 9crt eternity ring with one diamond and two gold bands were reported stolen.

Investigating officers have now launched a public appeal for information. They are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who sees the items being sold to get in touch immediately.

Avon and Somerset Police[4] said in a statement: “We’d ask witnesses to the burglary or anyone who sees the items potentially being sold to call 101 and quote reference number 5223122591.

Crime prevention advice[5], including information about storing valuable items out of sight and home security, is available on our website. It’s also important to remember at this time of year especially to keep windows and doors locked when leaving a property vacant.

“If you can help, please call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5223122591, or complete our online appeals form[6].

“You can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 100 per cent anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their Anonymous Online Form[7]. No personal details are taken, information cannot be traced or recorded and you will not go to court or have to speak to police when contacting Crimestoppers.”
