A power cut in Ryde affected the running of Island Line trains this evening.

Homes and businesses were temporarily left without power.

South Western Railways said: "Due to an electricity supply problem between Ryde St Johns Road and Ryde Pier Head the line towards Ryde Pier Head is blocked. Trains may be cancelled, delayed, or revised because of this problem."

Much of the power has now been restored, with SSEN showing no Island faults.

The area affected included the town's shopping centre and seafront.

UPDATE: 9pm: Trains are running as normal
