Heart-stopping moment pedestrian comes within inches of being …
Terrifying footage showing the moment Shaheib Mohammed ran a red light[1] and caused a crash that almost “obliterated” an innocent pedestrian has been released.
Mohammed, 24, was jailed for two years and eight months on Wednesday after Bradford Crown Court[2] heard how a pedestrian was just seconds away from being “squashed” between the lorry and a house wall.
The lorry had been struck at the junction by Mohammed’s speeding Volkswagen Passat after he ran a red light. Mohammed’s passenger and “best friend” suffered a catalogue of serious injuries including a bleed on the brain and a ripped aorta as a result.

Mohammed, of Clay Pits Lane, Pellon, Halifax[4], pleaded guilty to a charge of causing serious injury by dangerous driving[5] and Judge Burn said his actions had been “lethally dangerous.”
Prosecutor Gareth Henderson-Moore told the court[6] Mohammed had been driving the Passat on Sand Beds, Queensbury, at about 10.30pm on May 11 last year when he overtook another vehicle at speed and failed to slow down for the junction, despite the lights being on red. He said Mohammed and the HGV driver suffered minor injuries.

Following the sentencing, on Thursday, West Yorkshire Police released footage of the collision. The terrifying video shows the moment Mohammed ran through a red light, colliding with the HGV, which folds in on itself.
Mohammed was banned from driving for a total of three years and four months and he must take an extended test at the end of that period before he can lawfully drive again.
