GWR warns Bristol Temple Meads passengers of ‘extreme disruption’

Great Western Railway[1] has warned passengers travelling on the rail network today that there will be “extremely reduced service” and disruption due to the ongoing industrial dispute with rail unions. Many services are reduced, with their last train at an earlier time.

Both Aslef and RMT trade unions are going on strike today over pay and conditions, with more days of strike action[2] and travel woes for passengers planned this month and in June. On these days, many parts of the GWR network will have no services at all.

With fewer services than usual, many of the trains that are running today are expected to be extremely busy. Passengers’ tickets to travel on GWR today have been made valid up to Tuesday, May 16, to help customers affected by the reduced services.

In a statement on the industrial action, GWR said: “Due to industrial action today, Saturday May 13, an extremely reduced service is operating on a limited number of routes. Some parts of the GWR network will have no service at all.”

An extremely limited service will operate today with a reduced operating window; services will start at 7am and must be completed by around 7pm.
