Greater Anglia trains cancelled due to track-side fire near Essex …
Greater Anglia trains travelling in and through Essex have been cancelled or delayed due to a track-side fire today (May 27). Greater Anglia has said that due to a fire beside the track between Sawbridgeworth and Harlow Mill, all lines have been blocked.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service reported the fire, Greater Anglia have said on their website. They said: "As a result train services will not be able to proceed until the fire has been extinguished. The response team are on route to the site."
The train provider has warned passengers that services through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. They have added that disruption is expected until further notice.
Four trains have been cancelled (as of 1.45pm). These are trains between Bishops Stortford and Stratford in London. At present, these are the 1.15pm from Bishops Stortford to Stratford, the 2.16pm from Stratford to Meridian Water, the 2.38pm from Meridian Water to Stratford, and the 3pm from Stratford to Bishops Stortford.
On their website, the train service provider said: "Greater Anglia and Network Rail are sorry if your journey has been affected by this disruption. Specific train service alterations are available here: http://www.journeycheck.com/greateranglia/."
