Fly-tipping chaos in Foleshill causes fresh havoc for residents

The fly-tipping situation in Foleshill seems never ending, with more residents from the area making complaints. Last week we reported on the horrendous situation with residents saying that they are ashamed to be from Coventry[1].

This week, more complaints have rolled in from residents saying the council ‘needs to act fast’. One resident who wished to stay anonymous said: ”I have emailed Coventry council[2] five times about fly-tipping on Carlton Road Foleshill[3], but despite anything they haven’t acted about getting it cleared.

He added: “This is only to let all the people of Coventry know. Council rubbish vans do park here right over the cans, sit there for an hour & then drive off. There are no council bins on the Road either, but there are electric car charging points, so the council needs to act fast”.

People in the area seem tired of the situation that has been going on for several years. A Coventry Telegraph reader commented on the situation and said: ”It’s getting worse and worse. From littering (bits of food, cans of drink to big items. mattresses and car tyres. Something has to happen and soon. Yesterday was late. Very angry about this. Shame to anyone who leaves anything outside”.

More flytipping in the area

Another reader said: ”Only some people that come and live here are giving Coventry a bad name and try and drag us down to their level. I am a proud Cov Kid”.

Residents have called for Coventry City Council[4] to act on the fly-tipping. In a response, the council said: ”To clear flytipping and to catch the culprits, we need to know about incidents as soon as possible.

“We do regular checks in the area ourselves and deal with tipped material straight away – unless it is on land that we are not responsible for. We remove the material and we have served notices at numerous addresses”.
