Firefighters hail ‘successful job’ as lorry fire is extinguished

Firefighters in Whitefield helped combat a lorry fire on a ring road last night, Friday.
The crew were called at 5.30pm after reports of a blaze.
The incident took place between Junction 15 and 16 near Swinton on the anticlockwise side of the road.
Two firefighters with breathing apparatus were sent from Whitefield and found that propane cyclinders had already exploded by the time they arrived.
A fire service spokesperson said: "It was a successful job from the fire service point of view.
"We put out the fire pretty quickly.
"We were called at 5.30 and were probably there for an hour.
"Within the hour the motoerway was able to open again."
