Exact date Scotland to be hotter than HAWAII as summer …

High pressure anchored over Scotland will deliver the UK’s finest weather, with the country outshining global hotspots like Paris, Madrid and even Hawaii.

Today’s Bank Holiday[1] comes with clear blue skies for many but weathermen suggest things are only going to get warmer tomorrow and on Wednesday.

There is even the prospect of Scotland[2] claiming Britain’s hottest spot of 2023 so far, should somewhere eclipse the 24.4C seen in Plymouth[3] on Sunday.

As the centre of the high pressure is sitting over Scotland, rotating winds on the east coast are keeping temperatures down in southern England.

Tomorrow London[4] will be no warmer than 20C but even locations traditionally much hotter than Scotland will be put in the shade.

Ibiza[5] and Madrid will suffer thundery showers up to Thursday, Paris will be two degrees cooler than Glasgow[6] and even Honolulu in Hawaii is facing rain all week.

Forecaster Tom Morgan of the Met Office[7] said: “It’s going to be dry, sunny and very warm for Scotland as we approach the end of spring.

“Temperatures are creeping up day-on-day, peaking on Tuesday or Wednesday at 25C.

“It’s staying warm for the rest of the week, with no rain in sight for at least the next 10 days.

“It’s not as if we are drawing warm air up from the near continent.  It is day-on-day radiation we are seeing because air from high pressure warms up as it sinks, leading to things getting warmer day after day.”

Scots hit the parks and seafronts yesterday and Bank Holiday Sunday proved a busy day for paramedics working for the Scottish Ambulance Service[8] at the Edinburgh Marathon and half Marathon.

Runners had not been expecting the sun to come out on the east coast, resulting in what one runner described as ‘bodies lying everywhere’ along the route.

Children were happy to help competitors keep cool by standing on the pavement with water guns, spraying the entrants as they ran past.

First responders could be seen working on victims of exhaustion and the effects of heat near the finishing line in Musselburgh[9].

A spokesperson for the service said:” We attended a number of incidents at the Edinburgh Marathon[10] and we transported two patients to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.”

Tomorrow night thousands will flock to Murrayfield[11] for the Bruce Springsteen[12] concert, the last in a trio of big name events including Beyonce and Harry Styles[13].

Roads which will possibly be closed at the end include Roseburn Street, Russell Road, Murrayfield Road, the A87 between Haymarket and Western Corner, Westfield Road / West Approach Road, Rosebery Crescent, Balbirnie Place and Grosvenor Street.

Also today, rail services[14] between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley resume normal service after three months of major upgrading works.

On the roads, road operator Amey South West asks drivers[15] to slow down on country roads, warning that collisions involving deer are more common at this time of year.

The long-range forecast from the Met Office predicts warmer-than-average conditions into June.
