Emergency services remain at scene of serious crash in east Belfast

POLICE remain at the scene of a serious crash in east Belfast reported to have involved a lorry and a cyclist.

Shortly before 4pm on Friday, police closed Castlereagh Street and Templemore Avenue in both directions at their junctions with Castlereagh Road.

Drivers were advised the closures would be in place for several hours and a spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said no one was taken from the scene.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) had also been despatched to the scene along with two emergency crews and HEMS team.

Castlereagh Street and Templemore Avenue are closed in both directions at their junctions with Castlereagh Road, east Belfast, due to a serious road traffic collision. The closures are likely to remain in place for a number of hours. Please seek an alternative route. pic.twitter.com/Zh7T9os7hY[1]

East Belfast MP Gavin Robinson asked the public to avoid the area "for the foreseeable future," adding: "Thoughts are with those caught up in the incident."
