Drivers are being warned to expect busy roads and congestion on Saturday morning as dozens of coaches take Sky Blues fans from Coventry[1] to London. Coventry City Council[2] said 70 coaches will be leaving from Grosvenor Road car park, just outside the city centre in the morning.
“Expect the area to be busy with traffic in the morning when they depart,” said a spokesman. Excitement is mounting as the Sky Blues prepare to face Luton Town in a play-off final that promises to be one of the biggest games in the club’s history.
Rail passengers have already been warned to expect busier journeys[3] tomorrow and allow plenty of time as thousands of Sky Blues fans head to Wembley on the train. For those unable to get tickets for the Championship play-off final, the game will be screened in a number of venues[4] in Coventry – although to the disappointment of many fans, it won’t be shown on a big screen in the city centre[5] due to safety concerns.
Meanwhile, fans who are travelling down by coach are being urged to consider getting public transport to the city centre for the first part of the journey. A city council spokesman said: “If you will be driving your car to get your coach to Wembley, the closest car park is at Coventry Railway Station.”
