Cyclist dies in Northampton after crash with van

A cyclist who suffered “serious injuries” during a road traffic crash in Northampton[1] has died in hospital. The collision involving the man and the driver of a white Peugeot Partner van took place at about 7.15am on Wednesday, May 3.

It happened on the roundabout junction with Billing Brook Road and the A4500 Wellingborough Road, outside the Tesco fuel station at Weston Favell Shopping Centre.

As a result of the collision, the cyclist – a 62-year-old man from Northampton – sustained “serious injuries” and was taken to University Hospital Coventry, according to the force. However, he passed away on Sunday, May 14.

A spokesperson for the Northants Police[3] said: “Investigations into the collision continue and officers would like to hear from anyone who has yet to come forward and may have witnessed the incident or who may have dash-cam footage of the collision.

“Anyone with information is asked to email [email protected] or alternatively call the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615 or Northamptonshire Police on 101. Incident number: 23000265905.”

The appeal was shared on the Northamptonshire Police Facebook where users have been leaving tributes. One person wrote “condolences to family and friends of this man” while another added “thinking of the man’s family.”
