Cotswold double-decker bus crash sees cyclist critically injured

A cyclist is in a critical condition following a collision with a double-decker bus just across the Gloucestershire border near Burford. The serious crash happened on the A361 in Oxfordshire between the Cotswolds town of Burford and Signet, shortly before 9am on Friday (May 27).

Thames Valley Police said the cyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for further treatment. He remains in a critical condition.

Thames Valley Police today (Saturday) issued an appeal for witnesses to a road traffic collision. They said no arrests have been made.

Investigating officer PC Alex Manderson, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: “I am appealing for any witnesses to this collision, whereby a cyclist has sustained serious injuries, to please come forward. You can do so by calling the 24-hour non-emergency number 101 or by making a report on our website, quoting reference number 43230231097.

“Also, if you were driving in the area around the time of the collision and have dash-cam, I’d also ask that you check any recordings in case it has captured something that could assist our investigation. You can upload any footage to our dedicated online portal[2].”
