Cleveland Police tattoo equipment warning as man dies from infection
It comes days after a warning was issued to the public on the dangers of unlicensed tattooists following reports regarding the use of unhygienic equipment.
Detectives from Cleveland Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and are working closely with Middlesbrough Council.
A force spokesman said: “A 32-year-old man sadly passed away on Saturday May 6 after contracting a serious infection.
“A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with his death and has been bailed whilst enquiries are carried out.”
Police have urged potential customers to check the Body Art register before visiting tattoo artist.
