Child, 12, rescued by fire crews from high tree in Sussex park

A child was rescued from a high tree in Eastbourne[1] on Monday (May 15) after becoming stuck. The child, a 12-year-old boy, had climbed a tree in Shinewater Park on Larkspur Drive yesterday evening at around 5.55pm when he became stuck.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service[2] was called to the scene in Eastbourne, with multiple fire service vehicles at the scene including crews from Eastbourne. The child was rescued and brought to ground level by rope rescue equipment.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “We were called on Monday 15 May at 17.55 to Shinewater Park, Larkspur Drive, Eastbourne to reports of a 12 year old stuck in a tree. The child was rescued and brought to ground level by rope rescue equipment. There were no reports of injuries.”

Only one child was reported to have been stuck up the tree and in photographs taken from the scene, large and lengthy ladders were used to assist with the rescue. No injuries were thankfully reported and the child was rescued safely.
